BASIX Certificate
The Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) is a key part of the development application process in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, and applies to all types of residential dwellings. It’s considered one of Australia’s most robust sustainable planning initiatives.
In NSW, BASIX sets standards for water and energy consumption, as well as thermal comfort, for:
All new residential properties.Modifications and additions to existing homes costing $50,000 or more.Swimming pools with a capacity of 40,000 litres or more.To get approval for these developments, the consent authority, typically the local council, needs proof that the development plans comply with BASIX requirements.
Since its inception in 2004, it’s estimated that over 500,000 homes that meet BASIX requirements have contributed to a reduction of 12.3 million tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions and saved 340 billion litres of potable water. The BASIX certification is a mandatory requirement for building permit approval. We will provide you with all the necessary certificates required in order to get the building permit approval.
